Celebration Series Events
As host of "The Celebration Series", Alpha Chi Omega presented four events on the University of Arizona campus this fall as a way to make a contribution and give back the UA and Tucson communities. To follow the series, Alpha Chi Omega will sponsor a membership drive at the UA during January 2000.

Interactive Event #1 Day in Law

Event Review: Two career-centered events also were part of the Celebration Series. Margaret Maxwell, commissioner o f the superior court, and Julia Tai, reporter for KVOA channel 4, both spent a day working with UA students. The two events, Day in Law on Oct. 28, and, Day in Broadcast Journalism on Nov. 18, gave students an opportunity to see these professionals in their place of work and to talk with them about finding jobs in law or broadcast news. Both women are alumnae of Alpha Chi Omega. Maxwell attended the UA, and Tai attended UCLA.

Event review: On Wednesday, Nov. 3 the a capella group, Rockapella, performed for a standing room-only crowd of more than 450 in the Arizona Ballroom at the UA. The group performed songs from their current album , Tell Me You Do, as well as the theme song from Where in the World is Carmen San Diego? Rockapella also shared with the audience the lyrics from their newest Folgers commercial, which debuted on Thanksgiving Day during the Macy's parade.

Event review: Matt Simon and Kaia Beck, two members of MTV's The Real World-Hawaii talked about health and safety issues along with the show's ups and downs on Sunday, Nov. 14. The presentation also was in the Arizona Ballroom, in front of an audience of about 150 UA students. Matt, who works as a screen writer in Los Angeles, and Kaia, who lives in Brooklyn, told the audience making wise decisions wouldn' t eliminate the fun from college life.
