Q: Who is Ash Ketchum?
Ash Ketchum is a 10-year-old boy from Pallet Town.  He goes on a quest to become the greatest Pokémon trainer ever.
 
Q: What's the difference between the red and blue version of Pokémon?
The gameplay is exactly the same in both versions, however, the amount and availability of Pokémon vary between the two versions.
 
Q: Which Pokémon is the best to start with?
Most people would suggest choosing Bulbasaur as their first Pokémon since he's a duel-type Pokémon, both grass/poison.

Q: Why wouldn't my Pokémon obey me?
Your Pokémon's level is too high and you'll need to earn a certain number of badges to gain their obedience.

Q: How do I evolve my Kadabra?
There are certain Pokémon in which you need to trade in order for them to evolve.  Abra is one of those Pokémon.
 
Q: How do I get past the Rock Tunnel? I can't see anything.
Use the Flash ability once to light up Rock Tunnel from one end to the other.  If you didn't receive the HM05 (Flash) from Profesor Oak's assistant, you'll just have to stumble through.
 
Q: How do I find/use cut?
First, you must find the Cut HM.  You must go to the S.S. Anne and help the Captain with his seasickness.  After doing that, he will reward you with the Cut HM.  Use and give it to a grass-type Pokémon.  Just go up to a bush and go to your select the Pokémon that you gave Cut to, then press 'A', select 'Cut', then the bush would disappear.  The only bushes that you can cut are the ones that looked like half-buried carrots.

Q: How do you get to the Unknown Dungeon?
In the area where you get Abra, Surf south.  You'll find the cave, but you can only enter it if you beat the Elite Four.
 
Q: How do you get to the Power Plant?
It's close to Cerulean City.  Directly east of it, you'll find a river.  Surf down the river and you'll find it.

Q: How do I earn money?
There are two ways to do this. You can fight a trainer and win or use the "Pay Day" attack. You can get Pay Day from Meowth or from a TM on Route 12.
 
Q. I've heard that there are a few different versions of Pokémon, how many are there?
There are 4 Game Boy versions to Pokémon. The first to come out was the Red and Green version. The Blue version was released as a special mail in offer. The Yellow version has you start off with Pikachu and fighting Jessie and James from the cartoon.
 
Q: Where can you find Pikablu and/or Togepy in the American Red/Blue versions?
You can only find Pikablu or Togepy in the upcoming game, Pokémon Silver/Gold.  They do not exist in the American Red and Blue versions.
 
Q: When is Pokémon Gold/Silver going to come out?
Pokémon Gold/Silver is due to come out sometime around April of next year.
 
Q: What are the Technical Machines (TMs) and Hidden Machines (HMs) for?
These items can teach your Pokemon new moves for battle, but they work a bit differently. TMs can only be used once and only work in battle. HMs can be used over and over, and the moves work on the Field Map and battle. Most moves can only work with certain Pokemon, such as "Fly" only works with Flying-type.
 
Q: When does the Game Boy Color come out?
A: The long awaited Game Boy Color comes out on November 23rd.  In addition to the color, it could also play all Game Boy, Game Boy Pocket, and Super Game Boy games. 

Q: How do I move the sleeping Pokémon (Snorlax)?
You must get a Pokéflute to rouse the sleeping Pokémon.

Q: But where do I find the Pokéflute?
You get the Pokéflute from Mr. Fuji, who is held hostage by Team Rocket members in the Pokémon Tower, Lavender Town.  Just rescue him and he'll give you the Pokéflute.  The flute works in and out of battle.

Q: How do I get into the Cinnabar City Gym?  It's always locked.
Inside the building next to the gym, above the laboratory (the burned out one), you will find the secret key.  It is on the lowest floor, you have to hit the switches on the statues to open gates.

Q: How do you get past the guard at Saffron City?
You must give the guard some water and he'll open the gates for you.
 
Q: On my Pocket Pikachu, Pikachu is mad at me.  What do I do?
Just simply give lots of watts to Pikachu...preferably 500 watts or more and that should get him to like you again.
 
How do I make the é in Pokémon?
Just hold the Alt' button, then type in '1', '3', and '0', then let go of all the buttons and you'll have the é or hold Alt with number-lock on, and press 0, 2, and 3 twice..
To make the é on a Macintosh, press and hold the option key and then press e. Let go and press e again. You should come up with the é.

Q: About how much does the  cost?
The suggested retail price from the manufacturer is about $79.95 American and $99.99 Canadian but the price may vary depending on where you buy it.

Q: Who is Team Rocket?
Team Rocket is an organization destined to capture rare Pokémon.  The main Team rocket Members of the show consists of Jesse, James and a sly Pokémon named Meowth.  They are constantly trying to catch rare Pokémons, especially Pikachu.
 
Q: Where does Ash meet Misty and Brock in the show?
Ash meets Misty in the first episode when he stole Misty's bike to get to the Viridian Pokémon Centre.  After a while, Misty and Ash meet up with Brock when they head into Pewter City Gym. 
 
Q: Are there 151 pokémons in the game?
Mew is in both versions (Red and Blue)! In the 6th issue of Pokémon Power there is a contest! But they have not told how to get Mew officaly!

Q: Who is Professor Oak?
Professor Oak is the grandfather of Ash's rival, Gary Oak.  Professor Oak is Ash's guide in the show and in the game.

Q: When are the Green, Silver, Gold, and the other Pikachu Pokémon games going to come out in the U.S.?
If Pokémon turns out to be as successful, those games are most likely going to be here.  For now, only the red and blue version are going to be available to avoid interference of sales if the silver and gold version came out.  The silver and gold game paks would probably come out around next year (Spring of '99).

Q: Is it possible to take Pokémon from other trainers in the game?
No.  You can only take Pokémons from the wild or through trading.
