#907 Hobgoblins

(episode guide by Embers)

Movie Summary

Directed by Rick Sloane! A bunch of kids and a security guard do something to a bunch of goblins. Or at least it's something like that. Actually, I wasn't really paying attention. But there's over 30 parking scenes! Oh, and please remain seated until the film comes to a complete stop.

Host Segments

Prologue: Servo is very sorry that he turned Mike on, after which Crow accidentally turns Servo on, then Mike turns both Crow and Servo on.

Segment One: Servo admits that he intentionally turned Crow on, which turns Mike on. Pearl turns herself on by thinking of Fabio. She then gives the SOLers a couch, which they jump on and squeeze juice boxes over.

Segment Two: Crow has made a short film entitled "Let's Talk Women!" Sadly, he could not find an actual woman. Mike mentions Pearl, and Crow gets mad and tries to cover up. "Just because one woman exists doesn't mean they all exist!"

Segment Three: Crow has created a hotline for people and robots who have been hurt by watching the movie "Hobgoblins." Bobo calls about being obsessed with a woman outside his species. It seems like Pearl, but it's really a chimpanzee named Emily. When Crow hangs up on him he decides to call the Butterball Turkey Hotline.

Segment Four: The SOLers are so traumatized by the movie that they go on vacation and leave cardboard cutouts and a tape recording of the song "Hobgoblins" in their places. The real Mike and 'Bots return, find Pearl watching, and run.

Segment Five: Tom accounts how he traveled back in time to kick Rick Sloane in the shin. When Crow is looking in the Encyclopedia of Lesser Directors, he finds that "Hobgoblins" was inspired by the shin-kicking incident. Pearl has taken away the couch and explains why she can't trust the SOLers with any furniture ever again. Meanwhile, Bobo and Brain Guy are jumping on the couch. Pearl gives them some "candy" -- bombs.

Stinger: The hobgoblins are being puppet-y.

My Thoughts

There's just one thing I want to say about this movie: WHAT WAS RICK SLOANE THINKING?! DID HE ACTUALLY THINK THAT THIS WOULD BE A GOOD MOVIE?! WAS HE ON CRACK?!

That said, my favorite host segment was segment four, with the Hobgoblins song. "Hobgoblins. Hobgoblins. What do you do with those hobgoblins? They're over here. They're over there. Those darn hobgoblins are everywhere." Classic.

Here's links to the first movie segment and the last movie segment.
