Bio

Messin with Dragons is a four-person hard rock and blues group that melds classic rock sound with progressive sensibilities. Together they represent a few decades (we're afraid to specify how many) of music and performance experience backed by a professional attitude and work ethic. Since their inception back in 1996 they have been impressing audiences not only in their hometown of Bakersfield CA but also as far away as Cayucos and San Diego. The line up is as follows.

Enrique Carlos Juan Acosta II Esq. comes from a musical family. His grandfather was a vaudevillian, his mother sang with swing bands and his father played conga drums for the band Tierra. Classically trained, Enrique found his way into musical theatre, then folk music, and finally hard rock.
Jordan Dennis Herbst also comes from a musical family. His father was a music teacher and he started playing drums at the age of 10. Reflecting his own eclectic taste in music Jordan has performed in classical, jazz, and rock ensembles before finally settling down with Messin With Dragons.
Just Bob is an enigma to modern science. Not much is known about his early years. What is known is that he came out of the Appalachian Mountains around 1812, and being a bass player was shunned and feared by normal society. It is thought that he belongs to a long lost sub species of Sasquatch that have less developed social skills than the normal Sasquatch.
Brent Kenneth Sims, born in northern California, first picked up his uncle's guitar at the age of 6.  He later studied Jazz and Blues roots under Doug Davis at CSU Bakersfield, and placed in the small combo category at the Berkeley Jazz Festival. But he soon returned to his first love, the British Blues style of rock & roll. Since then, Brent has done some session work and played with a few regional bands, most notably Lily Cigar with percussionist Jordan Herbst.

Following a brief and unsuccessful 1996 re-teaming in a band called Skyline, Brent and Jordan invited long time friend and bassist Just Bob to start a new, original music and semi-retro rock band. Vocalist/lyricist Enrique Acosta was soon added to the line up and with the writing team of Brent and Enrique, Icarus was born. But no one could pronounce that name so they changed it to Messin with Dragons.
