A Lovely Place



Although Canada has many beautiful surroundings, STRATFORD is one of my favorite cities to visit. It is because of my own personal attraction to Stratford that I'm dedicating this page to it. I want to introduce you to this Canadian highlight, it's rich history and beautiful old buildings.

The City of Stratford is located in the heartland of south-central Ontario and enjoys a year-round moderate climate along the same latitude as Boston, Massachusetts, the Nebraska Heartland and Northern California.

Southwestern Ontario offers four distinct seasons which make a wide variety of leisure activities possible. The winter weather lasts from December to March with summer temperatures stretching from May through September.

Stratford is linked to Canada's major transportation artery the 401 and is within a two-hour drive of more than six million customers and four major border crossings to the United States.







Festival Theatre, Stratford, Ontario is World renowned for its Shakespearean theatre. Stratford is in one of the most picturesque and delightful cities in all of southwestern Ontario.




Stratford's Outstanding City Hall is the hub of this beautiful and vibrant city from which all major streets radiate outwards.




The Stratford Public Library was opened September 19, 1903. It was built from funds received from the Andrew Carnegie Foundation and believed to be the oldest Carnegie Library in Cananda still in use as a library.

The Avon Theatre is a landmark in Ontario's theatrical history and has been the home of drama, vaudeville, music and film for nearly 100 years. It was purchased by the Stratford festival in 1963,completely redesigned and reopened officially in July 1967. The theatre seats 1100.




The Tom Patterson Theatre is also part of the Festival and was formerly called the Third Stage. It sponsors plays done by the Young Company.




York Street in Stratford, Ontario offers an interesting streetscape as well as shops, boutiques, and light foods. The Shakespearean Gardens and Avon River are adjacent to York Street. The shop on the far right is called Tizzie's Dollhouse and has alot of stuffed toys which include a great selection of coke ones( from all over the world) and BEANIES!!




Avon Carriages offer horse drawn tours as well as Dinner and Theatre service.See the lovely parks and homes of Startford in romantic luxury.

For over 2000 years dragon boat racing has been a celebration of chinese spirit and tradition. Long boats are brightly painted and decorated to look like huge dragons. During competition teammates paddle hard to the beat of a large drum. Now a popular sport world wide, communities such as Stratford, Ontario hold yearly dragon boat festivals thrilling participants and spectators alike. Stratford's has been a yearly event held in September since 1995..and gets bigger every year.
