Williams Selected For All-Rookie Team Bee Staff Reports (Published June 2, 1999)

Kings point guard Jason Williams, who helped the Kings to a winning season and a playoff berth, was a near-unanimous selection Tuesday on the all-rookie team selected by the 29 NBA coaches. Williams, who used an array of behind-the-back dribbles and no-look passes, averaged 12.8 points per game and six assists. He was joined on the first team by rookie of the year Vince Carter of the Toronto Raptors, Paul Pierce of the Boston Celtics, Vancouver's Mike Bibby and Orlando's Matt Harpring. Carter and Pierce received 56 points each with Williams getting 55. Carter and Pierce received the maximum 28 first-team votes. Williams was named on 27 first-team ballots, Bibby 19 and Harpring 10. Chosen for the second team were Houston's Michael Dickerson and Cuttino Mobley, Orlando's Michael Doleac, the Los Angeles Clippers' Michael Olowokandi and Golden State's Antawn Jamison.
