A Father's Day Tribute to Val....

In a little white tutu
clinging to Daddy’s neck,
perfectly coordinated
In their gray and white and black,
the grin on Daddy’s face
is pure bliss,
and the way it touches my heart
Is so much more than this…

In the pool soaking wet,
the day of fun
exhausting.
Father, daughter, son,
the time is theirs,
but not alone,
as we share the kiss
that soothes a very little boy,
and hearts are touched
by their reflection on mirrored lips.

Has there ever been a prouder father
than beamed out from the page,
one on each knee,
and joy in his heart
that they are his,
that all happened as it did,
for this dear heaven is his reward.

Conferring in the bustle of holiday shopping,
holding a trusting hand.
Protecting from flashes in an airport
while his Sun beams
beyond safe keeping,
a petite Bardot In the making
her Daddy has said.

Enchantment lies in wait in each new story…
A tug’o’war,
nothing less than the true identity
of Batman is at stake.
Daddy of course is
The Pretender!

How deliciously he is tortured
by the legacy of his own crafty
cat ‘n’ mouse mind,
"I’ll bet…George Clooooney
likes mint ice cream"
and we laugh out loud
charmed
at his sweet tale of being
ambushed
in what is
after all
a trap of his own making.

Twinkling moments shared,
some intentionally, some not so,
proclaim
Proud Father, Loving Father,
And we know
that of all else he remarkably is,
the best of these
surely is
Good Father.

Happy Father's Day
Val!
