The black cat’s back bows up in fright;
the strangest things are seen this night.
She spits out hisses just in case,
but this one shows no goblin’s face.

Slink back low, in shadows deep;
curl up tight and go to sleep.
Seemed like a perfect Halloween plan,
but that was before she spied her man.

Gazing far, far up, she stares spellbound
in fascination, which draws him ‘round.
Kneeling down upon one knee,
Perfect beauty is all both see.

Hello, black cat, aren’t you a sight,
so perfectly dressed for this spooky night.
Now, scat away, hurry on home,
or ghosties and goblins may make you their own.

Appearing to heed every word that he said,
She leapt on the fence, but followed instead.
In perfect balance, the fence she did stroll,
while watching his hair spark moonbeams of gold.

Ambling along, then stopping to wait,
this vision turns in at everyone’s gate,
laughing out loud at his painted up sweets;
taking special delight in the words, Trick or Treat.

Time to head home, black cat heard him say,
Let’s check out our Halloween bounty, ok?
Quick! Time for action, must stop his retreat!
Weaving a waltz step, she trips up his feet.

What, you again? I thought you had gone.
It’s a freezing wet night, now scurry on home!
No Daddy, oh Daddy, look can’t you see?
No collar or tags, so she must be for me!

Scooping up black cat, fearing the worst,
She heard him exclaim, damn I know I’ve been cursed!
Then holding her high, one the other espied,
Each captured forever by enchanting green eyes.

Pulling her close, into the nook of his neck,
She nuzzled and purred, and his face she did lick.
Opening his jacket, and tucking within,
t’was the snuggest and safest she ever had been.

Now, believe it or not, that’s how I was charmed
into cuddling and cradling in this darling man’s arms;
falling asleep never ever to part
with my head nestled snug against Val Kilmer’s heart
