Part 46...For Good

The two boys stepped off the plane and looked around for their aunt. The younger one, with the dark mystical eyes, stepped in front of his brother with a deep sigh and pushed a piece of his hair behind his ear delicatly. "Do you see her?" He raised a brow.

"Yeah," Taylor said with a point. The woman was tall, blonde and narrow..she held only car keys in her hand. She waved as the two boys walked towards her.

"Taylor, Zachary! It's so good to see you again!" She embraced them in a quick hug.

"Yeah, you too." They said almost in unison.

Taylor, still kind of awestruck by the events of the night before and in the airport terminal, remained mostly silent for the rest of the trip home, as Zac raved and ranted about what had been going on in their lives.....

"Yeah," He said. "Tay and I just kind of needed a break you know...I mean, 13 and 15 years of being around the same people constantly can get a little old," Zac chuckled.

"Oh," Sarah replied. Their aunt, Diana's sister, resembled their sister Jessica closely except older. She was 3 years younger than Diana, and was divorced with no children. She seemed incredibly happy that she'd finally have some company around. "Well, I'm glad to have you boys. Everythings the same, you can have the back bedroom..I'm sorry you have to share but we've only got 2 rooms and limited space."

"That's okay! It's just good to be...back." They pulled into the driveway.

"What's wrong, Tay?" Zachary threw his bags onto the twin sized bed on the left side. "Aren't you glad we're here?"

"Yes.." Taylor sighed, sitting down on the bed opposite. "It's just that...well, I don't know, the whole thing with Lindsay. I don't know if I can even like, move with out her."

"Yeah you can...you're a pretty strong guy. You can function...I mean, it may hurt now but you'll get over her!"

Taylor raised his head and smiled, about to laugh. He didn't need to get over Lindsay, and he knew for a fact that he wouldn't be able to anyway, so their was no point in trying. "Well, whatever Zac. We'll just see what happens. Who knows, maybe I'll meet somebody here." Then quickly added, Yeah right in his head.

"Okay Tay, you don't sound too sure, but......I think you'll be find. I'm going to go find Sarah...want to come?"

He looked around the room, which window held an incredible view of the city..he decided to unpack later, and nodded and followed Zac up the stairs.

"Boys! Erika is outside..why don't you go and meet her?"

"Who's Erika?" Zac said, half interested. He leaned over the window sill to catch a glimpse of a medium-heighthed girl kicking a soccer ball through her tiny front yard.

"Just the girl who lives next door. She's your age, Zac..it might be good to have somebody to 'hang out' or whatever you kids do these days with." Aunt Sarah said, drying a blue dish.

"Um," Zac instantly felt nervous. Taylor, being a little more confident in this situation, immidiatley spoke up.

"Come on Zac, I'll go with you," Taylor nudged his little brother out of the front door. The girl stopped when she heard the door open, and looked to see the two long haired boys step out of the house. She turned her head away, continuing to be distracted by the soccer ball.

"Hi!" Taylor said, approaching the girl.

"Uh, hi...." The girl looked at them. She had brown hair with a set of sparkly eyes.

"I'm Taylor, and this is Zac...we are Sarahs nephews."

"Oh, cool, I'm Erika...are you guys living with her?"

"Yeah for a while."

She paused, and looked confused. "Isn't there...another one?"

Zac and Taylor glanced at each other, then realizing she recognized them as two thirds of a band. "Oh, yeah...Ike is still in Tulsa.." Zac stated, turning his head to the east.

"Oh, sorry, I didn't mean to be nosy.." Her voice drifted off.

"No, thats okay..you're not nosy." Zac spoke up once again.

"Um, cool..then I'll see you guys around?"

"sure," they both replied with a wave. "Bye!"

They returned to the house- set in the picturesque hollywood hills- as Erika's soccer ball moved beneath her fluidly. Taylor then turned around once, standing in the door frame...to sigh...and try as hard as he could to put Lindsay out of his mind. For good.

**********

Lindsay sat quietly in the Hanson van, heading back towards Tulsa. "Diana?" She said softly.

"Yes, hon?"

"I...I want to go home."

"We are, dear. About 10 more minutes."

"No..." She breathed deeply. "I want to go home."

"To..Los Angeles?"

"Yes..to my parents."

Diana took a deep sigh and gazed thoughtfully at her husband, who gave her an encouraging nod and smile. "Alright, Lindsay...your work is pretty much done, here...the boys voices are changed..there really are no more high parts."

Lindsay was almost hurt at Diana's refference to her real place in the band, not in the family. Nevertheless, all Lindsay wanted was to be home again....

"We'll put you on the first flight tomorow."

"Thank you," Was all she could say.

The next day, Lindsay boarded the plane to Los Angeles with her few suitcases and broken heart. She was greeted warmly by her mother, father and Jenny, who later through her a party for coming back. All though Lindsay didn't feel much like celebrating..she played along and forced a smile, like a polite girl would do. That night, she sat outside her balcony looking up into the sky, wishing on a star that....that it wouldn't hurt so bad. She gazed at the star as hard as she could and tried with all of her might to put Taylor out of her mind. For good.
