Taylor and Zac sat in the family room; both sprawled out on a couch watching some random movie. Neither really paid attention to the film, for it was randomly picked out of their aunt's collection of videos. Rather then watching, the two talked back and forth.
"Hey Tay, are you feeling a little better about the whole… Lindsay thing?" Zac asked carefully. He knew it was a bit of a delicate subject and did not want to upset his brother.
Taylor shrugged, "Yeah, I guess… it just… I don't really know, you know? I guess what ever happens will happen or something."
"Oh… I understand what you mean."
Taylor smiled, "Speaking of girls, Zac, you sure were weird earlier when we were talking to Erika."
"Weird? The hell do you mean by that?" Zac softly chuckled.
"I mean you were sort of… dazed or something. You were a bit quiet, and you had this look on your face when you were staring at her. You've never acted that way before, you know."
Zac's head was cocked to one side, "So what are you saying? I mean, there's always first times for everything."
"Well this time seemed different…"
"That's probably 'cause it's like, one of the first times in three years that I've met someone not at a meet and greet. Like Erika's the kinda of person I'd eventually become friends with? You know what I mean? Besides, you of all people should know that when I first meet people I can be a little shy."
"Naw, Zac, you weren't shy. It was something else." Taylor said laughing.
"Okay… then maybe… oh! I was in a state of apprehensiveness!"
Taylor laughed harder, "A state of apprehensiveness? What the? Is that even a word? Apprehensiveness, hmmm…"
Zac sat up on from the couch he was sitting on, "Yes Taylor, you dumb blond! Apprehensiveness is in fact, a word!" Zac playfully rolled his eyes.
"But who cares, right? For all I know Zac, you could've had gas or something a while ago." Taylor laughed. "Anyways, what are you gonna do tomorrow?"
He thought for a moment before replying, "Um, I think I'm gonna walk around a bit… then I don't know? Maybe we can go the beach or something?"
Taylor agreed, "Yeah, I'll just ask Aunt Sarah if I can borrow her car to drive."
"Gee, I don't know, Tay. If I was Aunt Sarah… and considering the way you drive----" He held the thought. "You're too young to drive, anyway, you loser!"
"Hey!" Taylor defended himself. "I happen to be a very good, very careful driver. Even if I still am 15." He gave a jokingly snotty look.
Zac raised an eyebrow, "Oh really? You're a careful driver? Then tell Jessi, Avie and Mackie what really happened to Wicket since you told them she ran away."
The night went on like that with the two brothers talking and laughing until Zac went to bed. Taylor followed soon afterwards, wanting to finish the unknown movie.
He smiled down at his only brother who was still left at home. Not a moment later, Isaac picked Mackie up and placed him in his lap, "What's up Mac?"
The little boy shook his head, "Nothin' much. Right now Zac would be playing Lego's with me, but he's not here anymore… when are they coming back, Ike?"
"You mean Taylor and Zac?"
"Yeah!" Mackie's smile broadened at the mentioning of his brothers' names. "When's Taybear and Zachy coming back?"
Isaac shrugged uncomfortably, "Soon, Mackie, real soon. In fact, the whole family will be heading out to L.A. in a couple of months…"
Mackie looked up and nodded understandingly before walking away, "Okay then, I guess."
"See ya later, Mac…" Isaac sighed.
