Attack on America ~ My Point of View
Dear Family and Friends, this isn't meant as a forward, but please do feel free to pass it on if you wish. I was at work today and got into another one of my writing frenzies, and this below is what came of it. I just want all of you to know how much I love you, and if tomorrow never comes, I want you all to know how big of a part you each played in my life. Thank you for helping me to grow to the person I've become today.
With Love,
Stevi

On September 11, 2001
Our freedom's been tested by the rising sun.
Thousands of loved ones presumably dead.
America's hearts, never so fiercely have bled.
A terrorist act has destroyed our towers,
Has struck the Pentagon in less than an hour.
Invisible, America thought we stood.
Now we see that so many could,
Could so easily come in and destroy our lives,
Killing so many innocent people, among them, husbands and wives.
So many woke up on this disasterous day,
Got ready for work, and were on their way.
Suddenly our programs are interuppted by the news,
As we watch the next plane soar through tower two.
Minutes later, one comes crashing down.
Shortly thereafter, the second one hits the ground.
Now all that's left are two empty spaces,
Replaced by Americans' many distraught faces.
A day that will be recorded in history books
Will remain a vivid image in our minds, never to be shook.
A Patriotic country we've been deemed as for years,
But today America truly unites and sheds our million tears.
Eager to help, many have donated blood.
We've seen people who've lost no one cry tears of a flood.
Why does it take a day such as this
For Americans to realize the unitedness we've missed?
Now, together we shall stand, side by side
And always remember the day our freedom was tried.

**I never will understand why it takes loss for many realizations to surface. It's true that we "never know what we've got until it's gone". Who would have expected to wake up on this solemn morning of the eleventh, to see that America had been placed under attack? Four commercial airlines were hijacked, driving 266 innocent people to their deaths. Both of the World Trade Center towers were struck, and soon after, collapsed, as then the Pentagon was struck, taking out an entire side. The fourth plane was unable to reach its destination, Camp David. Air Force One and the White House are believed to have been targets. Who are we to say that we've seen the last of these heinous acts? We are not invincible. We are just as susceptible to attacks as any other country, and we've received that rude awakening on this day. More than 20,000 lives are believed to have been lost. Many heroic firemen, police officers, doctors, bystanders, and more have risked their lives to try and save those of so many others. We have all been handed a beautiful thing the day we were born; life. But we must not forget how easily it can be taken away. Gather your family and call your friends, and let them know if today your life were to end, how much you love them and how much you care, because not all of us are fortunate enough to be given that second chance. My heart goes out to all of you back east, and to also, the many nationwide that have lost the oens they loved. You will always be in my prayers. In Loving Memory to the Lives that have been lost...
