Few improvements were obvious prior to this project.
There was little to mark the entrance to this ecological preserve and little mention of it's significance.
At the designated hour, 2 PM, the volunteers began to arrive and were directed to sign in. I then assigned tasks, including site clean up to assembled group and supervised the reassembly of each sign at it’s site, oversaw the posting of the signs and the tamping of the soil around the sign posts.
Working with Mr. Bob Bridges, Venture Crew 413 Advisor, I repaired the wiring on the pass through gate and saw that the clean up progressed. Because of the preconstruction, assembling the two signs was accomplished in very little time and due to the earlier rains digging the post holes was relative easy. Painting, although a bit more messy, also went along very easily. By 5 PM the signs were posted and painted, parking areas cleaned, and designated and the environmental clean up was complete and the volunteers were fed, and sent on their way home with my grateful thanks.
Cleanup was required

Final Statement:
Now that the project is complemented I believe that through my efforts, and those of the people that I led during this project, the people of Coalinga and the west side of Fresno County, the department of fish and Game, and the citizens of California now have a much improved access area to the Pleasant Valley Ecological reserve.
From managing this project I have a better understanding of how leadership is nurtured and developed, and how it pays to show up to a meeting in Uniform. I have also learned about sticking to one’s goals and a timeline.

Scoutmaster's Note: Due to additional timeline problems, Leroy did not complete the tasks for gaining his Eagle Rank. He did, however, finish his Eagle Project.
