Re: Distribution of Estate of Margaret Hundley
The Circuit Court of Halifax County, Va., entered a decree in the above styled suit today directing me as
Administrator of the estate of your sister, Miss Margaret Hundley, to make distribution among you of her
estate, provided you shall execute by June 1, 1938, proper refunding bonds, with surety approved by the
Clerk of the Court at Halifax, in the amount of the respective shares to which each of you are entitled.
In the event of your failure to execute such refunding bonds with proper sucurity, then the court directs
me to invest your respective shares on savings account, or interest certificate, in the South Boston Bank & Trust Co.,
of South Boston Va., to await the further order of the court.
The gross amount which I know have in hand to the credit of your sister's estate for distribution is $749.11, from which
there is to be deducted the cost of administration of 5% due the Administrator, and possibly a small amount of court costs.
The approximate amount which each of you will be entitled to receive as your share will be about $87.50, and I assume that
each of you will have to execute a refunding bond with proper security in the sum of about $90.00, in which bond you will
agree to refund such amount to Miss Margaret Hundley should it later appear that she is still living.
If the refunding bonds are not given, and if there is no further evidence before the court indicating that Miss Margaret Hundley
is still living, then if her distributees will file in December of this year an application with the court for the distribution
of this estate and the payment to them of their respective shares, I believe the court will order such payment to be made at the
January termof the court, 1939.
I wish each of you to understand that I would gladly make distribution of this estate at this time if the law so provided and
the Judge of the Circuit Court would so order. However, the Judge of the court has to act in accordance with the law, and I have
to act in accordance with the court's instructions.
