It was a year after Kaitlin and Jennifer went to their very first Backstreet Boys concert. Kaitlin had just heard on the local radio station about another Backstreet Boys concert. It was going to be on December 28th, 1999.
"Hello, is Jennifer there?" asked Kaitlin as she called Jennifer's house.
"Yes, hold on for a second," replied Jennifer's mom.
"Hello, this is Jennifer."
"Hi! This is Kaitlin. Did you hear about the Backstreet Boys concert on December 28th?"
"Yes! I was just about to call you," replied Jennifer. "Do you know when the tickets go on sale?"
"Yeah, they go on sale this coming Saturday. At 12:00 noon," Kaitlin told Jennifer. "They are giving away sets of three tickets all week long. On the KHI radio station."
"Oh, ok, cool. We HAVE to get tickets! I have to go now. Bye," Jennifer said.
"Ok, bye," Kaitlin said as she hung up the phone.

It was Monday afternoon when the two girls heard about the concert. All week Jennifer and Kaitlin listened to the radio. They were hoping that they could win a set of tickets. On Thursday, Jennifer got her chance to win.

"Hello all you Backstreet Boys fans out there. Let me see, how about the 20th caller wins tickets to the December 28th concert? The winner receives two front row, center tickets to the concert," the radio DJ said.
"Cool! I hope I am the 20th caller!" Jennifer exclaimed as she began  to dial the phone number.
"Hello, you have reached KHI. You are caller number twelve. Please hang up and try again if you wish," said the DJ.
"Dang, to early," Jennifer said with a little bit of anger in her voice.
"We have a very lucky Backstreet Boys fan on the line. Her name is Brie Johnson. She is from San Francisco and just won the concert tickets," said the radio DJ after two songs were played on the radio.
"Lucky girl," exclaimed Jennifer.

It was now Friday. The day the last pair of concert tickets would be given away. Kaitlin had gone over to Jennifer's house after school. The two girls were in Jennifer's bedroom listening to the radio and talking.

"I wish we could win the tickets," Kaitlin said with a little hope.
"Yeah, I agree. That would be so cool," Jennifer agreed. "Remember when we met them last year at McDonald's?"
"Of course I remember. It was one of the best days of my life."
As Kaitlin finished her sentence, the girls heard this on the radio.
"We have our final winner for the Backstreet Boys concert tickets."
"Dang! We missed it," both girls shouted at the same time.
"Ok, now for all of you to know. The final winner is Jamie Trill," the DJ finished.

"Kaitlin, tomorrow come over here at 10:00am. Then we can go to the Concord Pavilion and get tickets."
"Ok, I will."

The next morning Kaitlin was over at Jennifer's house at 10:00 sharp. Jennifer's mom drove the two girls to the Concord Pavilion and dropped them off. Jennifer and Kaitlin waited in line for two hours, but the good thing was that they
were the 15th people in line. At 12:05 they began to sell tickets. The line began to move quickly as the tickets were being sold.

"Hello, how may I help you?" asked the lady selling tickets.
"I would like two tickets please. As close to the stage as possible," Jennifer informed the lady.
"Ok, that will be 50 dollars. You have row 15, seats nine and ten." Jennifer gave her 25 dollars and thanked the lady. Kaitlin did the same. By now it was 12:25.

Kaitlin's mom was picking up the two girls at 12:30 and taking them to lunch at Pizza Hut. At Pizza Hut they ordered a large, extra cheese pizza and breadsticks.
"Hey, mom, guess what? We got tickets in the 15th row and they only cost us 25 dollars each," Kaitlin told her mom.
"That's great," her mom answered.

It was now December 25th, Christmas and three days before the concert. Kaitlin and Jennifer couldn't wait for the concert that Tuesday. Both of them got quite a lot of stuff for Christmas. Some of their presents included Backstreet Boys stuff, CD's and
other stuff they had asked for. Along with her presents, Kaitlin had received two backstage passes for the concert.

"Oh my gosh! I can't believe this! Thank you sooooo much," Kaitlin hollered as she unwrapped them.
"You are very welcome," replied her parents.
"May I please go call Jennifer and tell her?"
"Yes, but please hurry so we can finishing opening our presents."
"Ok, I will," said Kaitlin as she ran off to her bedroom.

"Hello? Jennifer?" Kaitlin asked into the phone.
"Yes? Who is this?"
"It's me, Kaitlin."
"Oh, hey. Merry Christmas."
"Ok, be quiet for a second. I have the best news," Kaitlin told Jennifer.
"Ok, I get your point. I will be quiet. So, what is the big news?"
"It's one of my Christmas presents. It is two backstage passes for the Backstreet Boys concert!"
"Oh my gosh! Are you joking?"
"No, but I have to go now. Maybe we can get together tomorrow. Bye," responded Kaitlin.
"Ok, see you later! Bye bye." When Jennifer hung up the phone, she ran to her parents as fast as she could. She arrived out of breath but managed to tell them about the backstage passes.

It was now the day of the concert. Kaitlin and Jennifer were very excited. Kaitlin was so hyper that she almost got grounded until the concert. That was at about 10:00 in the morning, and the concert wasn't until 7:30 that night. So she was very happy she didn't get grounded. At about 1:00 in the afternoon Kaitlin went over the Jennifer's house.

"What should we do?" asked Kaitlin.
"Let's call the guys," suggested Jennifer. "We can call them on AJ's cell phone." When Kaitlin and Jennifer had met them last year, they politely asked for Howie and AJ's numbers and each guys home address.
"Ok, great idea," agreed Kaitlin. So Jennifer picked up the phone and dialed AJ's number.

"Hello, you have reached Alexander James McLean. How may I help you?"
"Hey, AJ, what's up?" asked Jennifer.
"Nothing much, who is this?"
"Jennifer and Kaitlin. We are the two girls who met you guys last year. At a McDonald's in San Francisco."
"Oh, hey! I think I remember you."
"Cool, well we just wanted to tell you guys that we are going to the concert tonight."
"And I got two backstage passes for Christmas," Kaitlin said as she took the phone from Jennifer.
"Great, well look, I got to go finish our practice. See you tonight, bye," AJ told Kaitlin.
"Ok, goodbye."

The two girls listened to Jennifer's Backstreet Boys CD all afternoon. At about 4:00 the phone rang.
"Hello?" asked Jennifer.
"Hey, how are you girls doing?" the person on the phone asked.
"Fine, but who is this?" The person on the phone began to sing a song. It was 'Heaven In Your Eyes.'
"Ok, Nick, stop singing now!" hollered Jennifer.
"Hey, how did you know it was me?" Nick asked sarcastically.
"Um, maybe because that song is your solo?"
"Good point."
"Yeah, I know. How did you get my phone number?"
"You told us last year, remember? Well, obviously not, otherwise you wouldn't have asked."
"Wait, yeah, I do remember now, but I have to go. My mom just said it's time to take Kaitlin home, so we can get ready for the concert."
"Ok, bye. Oh yeah, tell Kaitlin I said hi," Nick said.
"Ok, bye, Nick," responded Jennifer before she hung up the phone.

After Jennifer hung up the phone, her and Kaitlin went downstairs, and out to the garage. When Jennifer's mom dropped Kaitlin off at her house, it was two minutes before 5:00.
"Bye Kaitlin. We will pick you up at 7:00 for the concert," Jennifer said as Kaitlin got out of the car.
"Ok, see you then. Bye." With that Kaitlin went inside. At 5:30 she started to get ready for the concert.

Kaitlin first picked out her outfit. She chose to wear her blue bell bottoms, a solid green T-shirt, black and white Nike shoes, and she wore her hair in braided pig tails. After Kaitlin took a shower, she got dressed and went downstairs to wait for Jennifer.

At 6:52 Jennifer and her mom arrived at Kaitlin's house.
"Hey, Kaitlin, ready to go?"
"Hi, yeah, I am ready to go." Once they were in the car, Jennifer gave Kaitlin her concert ticket, and Kaitlin gave Jennifer one of the backstage passes. They arrived at the Concord Pavilion 15 minutes before the show started.
