The CEPI project is aimed
at strengthening environmental management capacity and
awareness in Indonesia through three inter-related
programs which involve the provision of short and
long-term Canadian technical advisors to BAPEDAL;
education and training of Indonesian personnel through
graduate studies at Canadian and Indonesian universities,
short-term practical attachments at Canadian government
and private sector organizations, interdisciplinary
research and development of training materials; and pilot
projects to illustrate appropriate environmental
technologies and practices to Indonesian private sector
companies, non-government organizations, and the
community. CEPI endeavors to develop a cadre of
qualified and experienced Indonesian experts to
cooperatively pursue Indonesia's environmental management
objectives on a long-term sustainable basis.
