A Scene From
"Sometimes a HERO"

This scene takes place while a battle is raging between two opposing gangs in the ice skating arena. Remo is trying to get Derek, fellow gang member and shooting victim, out of the ice skating arena when they encounter Lee, a member of the rivaling gang.


Remo and Lee

INT. ARENA (Loading area) -- NIGHT

Remo struggles with Derek as they make their way down the hallway... but there is no exit... as they prepare to go another way... a familiar voice catches Remo's attention.

            LEE(O.C.)
          You weren't leavin'?
Remo and Derek turn... Lee stands in the hallway... the only way out. Derek and Remo exchange an 'I can't believe this' glance. Derek nods as Remo props him against a wall.

            DEREK
          He looks pissed.
Remo grins and then turns to face his enemy.

Lee has a sneer on his face... a sneer and confidence. The two square off.

Before Remo can get a good footing, Lee hammers him with a swift and accurate roundhouse kick. Remo falls back... but gets up.

            LEE
          Everyone tells me you're good.
Lee attacks again. Remo blocks the punch and counters with his own; Lee plucks it out of the air. Both step back. Lee looks at Remo for a moment...

            LEE
          You look a little nervous, pal.
          No smartass remarks?
Remo stands straight as disgust begins to fill his eyes. His face is void of expression. He walks towards Lee.

            REMO
          Barking dogs don't bite.
Lee throws a punch... but Remo catches it with his hand. Then, instantly switching his stance and turning his body in the opposite direction, Remo snaps Lee's wrist.

The sickening sound rings throughout the area. Lee reels back, screaming in obvious pain.

Remo, still holding the arm, lets loose a razor-sharp sidekick which catches Lee under the arm; Lee's shoulder makes a repulsive noise as it pops out of the socket.

Remo drops the arm and launches a soccer kick to Lee's face. Lee flies backwards. Remo walks over to him... his face unemotional.

Using all his strength, Lee slowly stands.

            LEE
          Say something you son of a
          bitch!
Remo grins as he looks to Derek who still leans against the wall.

Then...

Remo pulverizes Lee's face with a punch, and another... the punches atomize Lee' features.

His head snaps back and forth from the impact of Remo's punches. Then without pause, Remo unloads every kick in his arsenal.

Sidekicks, back-kicks, front-kicks, spinning kicks, all hit Lee with explosive power. Each kick knocks Lee closer and closer to the edge of the loading dock.

Another punch... then a kick... then an elbow... then a knee... Remo is relentless as Lee is practically on the edge of the platform.

Remo steps back for a moment. Lee wavers... his face bloody, and mutilated. His eyes are almost swollen shut, his arm dangles as if unattached, his body trembles with pain.

            REMO
          Welcome to my world!
Remo explodes forward.

The foot catches Lee square in the chest, and the young gangster flies off the platform and lands hard on the top of the arena's Zamboni..

Remo watches for a moment as Lee's body slides off the ice machine... limp... void of life.

Then, Remo collapses... fatigued... he looks over to Derek.

            REMO
          Let's take a break.
The two chuckle -- painfully.
