My first meeting at ETVC was their End of
the Month Social. I decided to attend their next meeting, the Mid-month
social on March 11, 1998, as well. I decided to make it an all-day
affair, so I scheduled an appointment at my usual "transformation"
salon at 1:00 p.m. In addition to having makeup applied, I had my
hair permed and set as well. As you can see, I had the salon to
myself during most of the transformation.
I used the salon's large restroom to change.
I had chosen a red-orange dress to wear. I had bought it many
years ago, and it is now actually too large for me!
My trip to San Francisco was again by BART, the local mass transit system. This time I played tourist, and rode out to Ghirardelli Square and Fishermans' Wharf on the cable car. I resisted the chocolate temptation there, and ate just one small chocolate square.
Returning to the downtown area on the cable car, I transferred to a bus which I thought would take me near the meeting place, which was different from where the previous meeting was held. I was wrong! Fortunately, I had the address and after a considerable walk, found the restaurant.
I actually arrived early, and not seeing
anyone whom I recognized from the previous meeting in the crowded
bar area, waited outside until someone familiar arrived. People
from ETVC started arriving about 30 minutes after the meeting was
scheduled to start. There was no room for us to meet comfortably
in the bar area at that time, so we first went to the adjacent
restaurant area.
After we had eaten, we moved back to the
bar area for the rest of the evening. It turns out that the decor
matched my dress! I also took pictures of some of the other
attendees, which I will display here with their permission.
I met many of the people from the previous meeting, as well as several new people, including one attending her first meeting. I enjoyed myself, and returned home by a convenient bus connection from the restaurant to a BART station.
