A Second Oddessy to Reno

Day 4: Monday, October 12, 1998

I awoke ahead of the alarm from my clock radio, which I had set for 9:00 a.m. Naturally, I had to get into the TransGender Forum chat room again! I greeted many of my friends, then logged off and packed my computer in its bag. I then showered, shampooed my own hair, and shaved my legs in the bathroom. Then I shaved, put on my makeup, and put on the same outfit that I had worn on the trip up. I found a different pair of matching earrings, however.

Heather arrived as planned at 10:00 a.m., and lightly knocked on the room door. I made sure that I was "decent," and invited him in while I finished getting ready. He was resplendent in his bus driver's uniform. Instead of a limousine, I had a 45-foot MCI DL102C tour bus waiting for me, with me to be the only passenger! I checked out with a woman, who also looked out the window at us in the bus, which was parked on the street. He drove us to a nearby restaurant, where we had breakfast and showed each other our pictures. Then, he drove me to a shopping mall, and left me there to shop for about 45 minutes while he went to the different hotels to pick up passengers.

I hadn't been to this mall before, and it was much smaller than the one that I had visited earlier in the week with the others. I went into the Payless Shoe Source store on the outside first, but didn't find much of a selection in size 10 shoes. Instead, I bought two pairs of inside coushions that I needed for some shoes of mine which were slightly too large. I went into a close-out store in the mall, and was tempted by a fake fur jacket which I tried on. I then went into another shoe store, and checked out the bargain rack. The salesman there told me that the shoes there were now at 30% off of the marked price. After looking for a while, I found a very interesting pair in red, which were marked at $15. I asked him to get its mate, and went back to the seating area in the rear of the store to try it on. He helped me with that, and both shoes fit! Naturally, I bought them, and planned to wear them on an adventure to Trannyshack on Tuesday night! In another store, I found a black PVC jacket for $10. Hmm, sounds like the makings of an outfit!

I went back to the mall entrance, and had a diet Doctor Pepper at a small entrance near there. I picked up a local events paper to read. My chauffer returned, and I showed him my purchases when we returned to his bus. He then drove us to a nearby lake, and demonstrated his tour guide speeches using the bus' PA system. Of course, I was seated in the right, front seat!

He skillfully parked the bus in the parking area, and we walked around the small lake, stopping along the way to sit and talk on benches there. The lake had many interesting waterfowl, and we both enjoyed watching them, while carefully avoiding stepping in their droppings! When we got back to the bus, I brought out my computer to show him my web site, but I realized that I had left the power cord and transformer at the motel! I wanted to conserve the battery for my trip home, so I didn't turn on the computer then.

He drove me back to the motel, carefully easing past a parked pickup truck in the small parking lot. To my relief, the maid had found my cord, and it was given to me in a bag labeled with my room number. Then, driving around the block, Heather brought me to the bus loading area across the street, and unloaded my luggage for me. We agreed to meet again in Reno in the future, as he comes there regulary with tour groups.

(To be continued)
