Web Page Tips
Aiya! Who is this Miss Web Page
Expert who thinks she's so hot she can lecture me on the "dos and
don'ts" of the internet? Well, I think after seeing a billion web pages
making the same mistakes so many times it's not even funny, I figure I could
save some people the humiliation. So listen up, some of this advice might come
in handy...
The Most Common Errors On Web Pages With The Highest Potentials
*Dear god! Wonderful
images with breath-taking graphics! The problem? Image resolution. You know when
the image is all pixilated, fuzzy, blurry, and just plain UGLY. The solution?
Stop converting .bmp to .jpg! Save it as .jpg or .gif in the first place,
instead of saving an image as .bmp and converting it. And don't save it as some
funky thing like .tiff, ok? *Ok,
picture this. You surf on in to this wonderful, mega huge, billion hits Pokemon
web page that really catches your eye. So the text is just fine, but the links??
You can hardly see them! Highlighting them won't work like with text, so you try
the next best thing. You know all the best Pokemon sites have mouseover effects
on their links, so you hold your mouse over the link. It either gets slightly
better, or much better. But we all know that it has a trillion links to choose
from, so am I suppose to hold my mouse over each and everyone of them to find
out where I want to go? Nooo thank you. *Is
there some kind of fad going around that people want to do all sorts of java to
make their links look *exactly* like their text? You won't believe how many
links your visitors will skip, so just do go through all that hassle in the
first place! *Sections are so
confusing! I mean how am I suppose to know that "screen captures" are
under "episode guide"? Look, I know that people have an obsession with
shifting the stuff around the page sections to make things less mind boggling,
but quite frankly it ain't working!
*Why is it that web page owners never answer their e-mails? I mean sometimes
they will answer it if you are lucky, but then they just think "screw
that" and completely ignore your replies. Ahhhhh!
*What is with those sections of the page that are worthless
and completely pointless? It causes the surfer's patience to drop, along with
attention span. And worst of all, they skip all the important stuff and waste
time, space, and money (domains, go figure) just to put up this lame section
that no one goes to anyway. Geeze.. *Here's
a tip: if you are going to redesign your site, MAKE IT GOOD! I mean why shut
down most of the sections of your page just to make a layout that isn't good in
the first place? And especially watch out for some of the downsides I've
mentioned above, they are unusually common.
That's all *for now*! For more examples of what the heck I'm
talking about, visit one of those popular top ten Pokemon sites that are in the
"Pokemon Village" list or something like that.
