Charles Irwin Cameron
CAMERON, Charles Irwin - (1926-1998)
Our beloved father, brother, grandfather passed away
November 6, 1998
and went home to be with our Lord Jesus Christ.
Born in Sherbrooke,Guysborough Co.,
he was a son of the late C. Russell and Belle I. Cameron.
Irwin passed on at St. Mary's Memorial Hospital, Sherbrooke.
He was a resident of High Crest Nursing Home, Sherbrooke
for the last three years.
He was a graduate of the University of New Brunswick
with a degree in Civil Engineering (1953) and also
attended Mount Allison University.
He was employed with Bowerwater Mersey Pulp and Paper Company
in Liverpool from 1955 to 1987.
At the time of his retirement in 1987,
he held the position of Long Range Planning Administrator.
He served his community as Town Councillor for three terms,
past president and life member of the Kinsmen Club,
past president of Liverpool K-40 Club,
Milton Community Association, Curling Club member,
chairman of the Management Committee of the Queens Memorial Arena,
and served on the local School Board.
He was a member of the Association of Professional Engineers of Nova Scotia.
Irwin was a member of the Pentecostal Church and gave of himself freely,
even helping others overseas in Columbia to build
a church,
in spite of his disability of Parkinson's Disease.
Surviving are his daughters, Nancy Leach,
Winnipeg, Man.;
Anne MacDonald, Milton;
son, Tom, Red Deer, Alta.;
former wife, Tina Cameron, Fredericton;
sisters, Nancy (Mrs. Harold Cameron), Mrs. Mary Jane MacDonald, both of Sherbrooke;
brother, John Cameron, Sherbrooke;
six grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will
be held Monday, November 9, at 2 p.m. in St. James Presbyterian Church, Sherbrooke,
Pastor Al
Leonard and Rev. Larry Welsh officiating.
Burial in Riverside Cemetery, Sherbrooke.
Memorial
donations may be made to the
Pentecostal Church, Indian Harbour Lake or Parkinson's Disease Research Foundation.
