Mrs Evelyn East, 89,
passed away on Aug 4, 1984, at Guysborough Memorial
Hospital.
Born Rhoda Avis Evelyn Barss on July 27, 1895,
in Hazel Hill, NS, she
was the daughter of
Isaac and Lucy (Embree) Barss.
She lived in Hazel Hill
during her early life
and moved to Saskatchewan where she married Joseph
East of Loomis, Sask.
After the death of her husband, she returned to Nova
Scotia
and lived at Cook's Cove, Guys Co, until 1977,
when she moved to
Ferry Lane apartments in Guysborough.
She will be remembered for her cheery
disposition and love of life.
She was known to her numerous friends and
acquaintances as "Aunt Evie".
She was predeceased by her parents, three
sisters,
Clementine Lipsett, Teresa Myers, Joyce Anderson and one brother
Harold,
killed in action in World War 1.
She was a member of St Paul's
United Church, Canso, NS
also an honorary member of the session of that
church.
The remains rested at Haverstock's Funeral home on Sunday August
5th
and in St Paul's Church, Canso on Monday Aug 6.
Funeral was held on Tue
Aug 7 at 2 pm from the church.
Mr Paul Dillman officiated. Interment in
Canso Cemetery.
