Hundreds of friends throughout Nova Scotia and farther afield
will learn with regret of the passing of Mrs. Laura Burns,
widow of the late D. J. Burns, at her home
here in Sherbrooke on Sunday morning, December 22, 1942,
in her 67th year. The daughter of the late
John and Drucilla Dickson, she was born at Sonora,
where she lived for a number of years, coming to Sherbrooke
with her husband twenty years ago. They served
the travelling public with marked success until
the "Silver Inn" was destroyed by fire in 1937.
She leaves to mourn two sisters and three brothers:
Mrs. Stanley MacCutcheon, Wallaston, Mass.,
Mrs. John K. Cameron, East River St. Mary's;
James Dickson, Sonora; David Dickson, Halifax;
John Dickson, Sonora.
Her husband predeceased her two years ago.
The funeral, which was largely attended,
was held at her home on Tuesday at two o'clock
in the afternoon. Rev. J. W. Britton of St. James
Presbyterian Church conducted the service. Interment was at Sonora.
