Roy W. Fanning

FANNING, Roy W. – 82,
formerly of Dartmouth died November 18, 1993
in the DVA Unit of Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton.
Born in Hazel Hill, Guysborough County,
he was son of the late Joseph and Hattie (Feltmate) Fanning.
He spent some years with the Federal Department of Fisheries
before joining the Royal Canadian Navy in 1939,
where he served six years in both overseas and Atlantic theatres.
After the Second World War he worked as a letter carrier
for over 36 years. He is survived by a daughter,
Sylvia (Mrs. Robert Anthony), Dartmouth, two sisters,
Evelyn Donahue, Gainesville, Fla.; Kattie Barss, Virginia;
two brothers Earle, Hazel Hill; Gerald, Halifax.
He was predeceased by a sister, Hope Jewers; brother, Allen.
Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. tonight in Dartmouth Funeral Home,
29 Queen St., where funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday,
Rev. Arthur Snow officiating. The body will be transferred
to Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Canso, where visitation will be
7-9 p.m. Saturday. A graveside service will be 2 p.m.
Sunday in Fourth Hill Cemetery, Canso, Rev. David Wheeler, officiating.
