Well Known Resident of Newtown Dies
NEWTOWN - Mrs. Merritt Archibald, a resident of this community, passed away at her home yesterday afternoon, after having been in failing health for three years.
She was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. D. Henderson of Newtown and was born 65 years ago.
She was a member of the United Church and treasurer in Newtown congregation for over 30 years.
She was also active in the Woman's Missionary Society, other women's groups, and anything that was for the good of the community.
Mrs. Archibald is survived by her husband, one son, Robert, at home,
two grandchildren;
a brother, E.J. Henderson, Copper Lake, Antigonish Co.;
five sisters,
Elda (Mrs. David Patterson), Merigomish,
Jean (Mrs. Roy Sinclair), Goshen,
Helen (Mrs. James Rae), West Branch,
Annie (Mrs. Donald Weatherbie), Boston, and
Miss Elizabeth, RN, Rochester, N.Y.
One sister, Jessie, predeceased her a few years ago, and a brother in infancy.
The funeral will be held from the Kirk Memorial United Church, Glenelg, Saturday, at 2:30.
Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
