MacNAUGHTON, Bertha, B. F. -88
R.K. McDonald Guest Home, Antigonish, formerly of Goshen,
died Monday in the home.
Born in Waternish, she was a daughter of the late
Walter and Clara (MacIntosh) Fraser.
She was a graduate of Provincial Normal College
and taught in various areas in Nova Scotia.
She then became the first helping teacher
for the Rural Education Division of the Department of Education.
She served as post mistress in Goshen
for 28 years and was active in many community and church organizations.
She was awarded life membership in the Canadian Red Cross;
Nova Scotia Federation Home and School Association and United Church Women.
She was a 4H leader for many years and was a correspondent
for various area newspapers. She is survived by two daughters,
Elizabeth (Mrs. Stanley MacDonald), Guysborough; Jean
(Mrs. Allan Johnson), St. Thomas, Ont.;
a son, Allistair, Aylesford; a sister,
Jean Anderson, Timmins, Ont.; a brother, Roy,
Matheson, Ont.; nine grandchildren. She was predeceased by
her husband, Robert; two sisters, Cora Baker, Marjorie Copeland;
three brothers, Bruce, Harold, Robert.
The body is in MacIsaac’s Funeral Home, visiting 2-4, 7-9 p.m.
today. Funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday in Kings United Church,
Loch Katrine, Rev. Shelagh MacCulloch-Taylor officiating.
Burial will be in Goshen Cemetery.
