DUNCAN, Chester Ashley - 86,
of Freemasons' Home, Windsor, formerly of Guysborough,
Queensport and Canso, died Wednesday, January 10, 1990
at the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor.
Born in Whitehead, Guysborough County, he was the son of the late
Charles and Zinnia (Grover) Duncan.
He was a well-known businessman and former owner of Canso Confectionery.
He was a member of Christ Church, Guysborough,
a former member of Christ Church, Queensport
and All Saints Church, Canso. He was a member of
Eastern Light Lodge 72 A.F.& A.M., Guysborough,
a former member of Canso Lodge 79 where he served as treasurer
for 26 years and secretary for 19. He was past
Grand Steward for the Grand Lodge of Nova Scotia
and received his 60-year bar in May. He is survived by
two daughters, Elizabeth Anne (Mrs. William Wilkinson), Willingboro, New Jersey;
Judith (Mrs. Fred Carter), Stewiacke; and three grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife Lelia; four sisters, Viola, Gladys, Dorothy and Zelda;
and two brothers, Harry and Frank.
The body is in the Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Guysborough,
with visiting hours from 2-9 pm today.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday from Christ (Anglican) Church,
Guysborough, Rev. Eric MacDonald officiating.
Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the charity
of your choice. A Masonic service will be held
8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
