NEW TOWN – Miss Maisie Whidden passed away
in St. Mary’s Memorial Hospital at Sherbrooke in her sixty-fifth year.
Although in poor health for some time,
she always possessed a bright personality and sunny disposition.
Her home was one in which hospitality reigned.
She was able to be about until a short time before her death,
when she suffered a stroke.
She was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital
where her condition remained unchanged until Friday,
when she suffered another stroke and passed away Tuesday.
Born in New Town, she was the daughter of the late
David and Annie (Cameron) Whidden,
and lived most of her life in the old homestead
which she shared with her brother Allen.
She is survived by two sisters, Jennie (Mrs. S. H. Archibald),
Denver, NS, and Catherine (Mrs Vincent MacLean), Stellarton;
three brothers, Tom in Cobourg, Ont., Joe in Vancouver, BC.,
and Allen at home. One sister, Molly, predeceased her.
The funeral was held from the Kirk Memorial United Church, Aspen,
Wednesday, at 2 pm, and was conducted by her pastor,
Rev William Knox of the Sherbrooke Presbyterian Church,
who brought a comforting message to the bereaved.
He was assisted by Rev Lloyd Salsman, Aspen.
Hymns were, “The Lord is my Shepherd,” “Good Night and Good Morning”,
“Safe in the Arms of Jesus”, and “Meet Me There”.
Pall bearers were George Cameron, Hugh Cameron, Alex Archibald,
Hugh Archibald, Robert Archibald and Lester Tate.
Interment took place in New Town Cemetery.
