WHITE, Joseph Alfred (Potsy) – 72, 569 Nelson Street, New Glasgow, formerly of Centreville and Westville, died April 19, 1995, in Victoria General Hospital, Halifax. Born in Westville, he was a son of the late Alfred and Amanda (Caissie) White. He served for 29 years with the Canadian Forces and was a prisoner of war for over a year during the Second World War. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Kings branch for 35 years. Surviving are his wife, the former Louise Hartling; daughters, Sherrie, Kenda, Halifax; Charlene, Clive, Alta.; Holly, Red Deer, Alta.; sons, Kirby, Sardis, B.C.; Kevin, New Glasgow; 10 grandchildren; sisters, Nettie, Westville; Florence Gauvreau, Dorothy MacDonald, Hamilton, Ont.; Yvonne MacDougall, Truro; brothers, James Leo, Gordon (Doc), Westville; John James (Skinny), Hamilton, Ont; Patrick, Truro. He was predeceased by sisters, Elizabeth, Rita; brothers, Albert, Bill, Garfield, Leo, George. Visitation 7-9 p.m. tonight, 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Saturday in Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. Funeral 2 p.m. Sunday in Church of the Holy Name, Westville, Rev. Dan MacDonald officiating. Burial in the Wine Harbour Catholic Cemetery. Family flowers only.
