Obituary:

SHOLTO DOUGLAS MORRISON, aged 84 years, of Guysborough, N.S.,
died Saturday, September 23, 1978 at Camp Hill Hospital, Halifax.
Born in Hazel Hill, he was the eldest son of the late
John Aitken Morrison of Dundee and Margaret Simpson Morrison of Glasgow, Scotland.

He received his education in Hazel Hill and in England.
During the First World War he served with
the Royal Canadian Engineers and later with the Royal Flying Corps
in squadrons 41, 60 and 15. As a reconnaissance pilot,
he made 200 flights over France and Germany, mostly in the RE-8,
a two-seater bi-plane. He participated in duels with Baron von Richtofen's Fokker triplanes
in The Great Battle of World War One.

Mr. Morrison was employed with The Commercial Cable Company in Hazel Hill
and in St. John's, Newfoundland. He was a past master
of Canso Lodge, A.M. & A.F., and a past president of
the Guysborough Board of Trade. For many years, he was a warden of Christ Church,
Guysborough and a member of the Board of Guysborough Memorial Hospital.
From 1950 until 1965 he was High Sheriff for the County of Guysborough.
In 1971 Mr. Morrison attended in London a reunion of surviving Canadian pilots
of World War One and was received in Buckingham Palace
by H.M. Queen Elizabeth 11 and H.R.H. Prince Philip.

He was predeceased by his wife, the former Meta Frances Morris,
in 1965. Mr. Morrison is survived by his daughter Joan, of Halifax;
son Douglas, of Kentville; one sister, Mrs. Mona Murdock
of Guysborough; two brothers, Gilbert of Halifax and John of Brooklyn,
New York; also four grandchildren.

Remains rested at the Haverstock Funeral Home in Guysborough.
Funeral services were conducted from Christ Church, Guysborough on Tuesday,
September 26 at 2:00 p.m.; officiating clergy Rev. D.H. Sherren assisted by Rev. Ted Burton.
Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christ Church Memorial Fund, Guysborough.
