MRS. META FRANCES MORRISON,
wife of Sholto D. Morrison, of Guysborough, passed away October 15, 1965
at the Halifax Convalescent Hospital, following an illness of seven months.
Born in 1900 in St. John's, Newfoundland,
Mrs. Morrison was the former Meta Frances Morris,
daughter of the late Isaac and Rebecca Morris, of St. John's.
She attended the Halifax Ladies' College and the Maritime Conservatory of Music.
Mrs. Morrison was active in church, welfare and civic organizations in Hazel Hill,
St. John's, Nfld., Truro and Guysborough.
She was the first director of the Junior Choir
of St. John's Church, Truro. Mrs. Morrison was well known
throughout Guysborough County for her contributions to the field of music.
For many years, she was piano accompanist in the County music festivals.
She was organist at Christ Church, Guysborough.
Mrs. Morrison is survived by her husband Sholto, the County Sheriff;
one daughter Joan Morrison, Halifax; one son Douglas, Kentville;
five sisters, Mrs. Edith Morris-Ruygrok, Los Angeles;
Mrs. Mildred Baird, St. John's, Nfld.; Mrs. Ida Lea, Vancouver;
Mrs. Hilda Allen and Miss Edith Morris, both of Montreal;
and three grand-children, Cynthia, Ian and Robert Morrison, of Kentville.
Funeral service was held from Christ Church, Guysborough October 18,
Rev. D.H.Sherren officiating. Hymns sung were "Jerusalem the Golden",
"The Lord Is My Shepherd" and "Hark, Hark, My Soul,Angelic Songs Are Singing".
Pallbearers were James MacDonald, William Francheville, Gordon Drysdale, Harry Morrison,
Edward Carroll and Arthur Jones.
Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery, Guysborough.
