"Mourn Death W. Archibald"

ANTIGONISH, Sept. 16 [1944] -
The death of W. C. [William Clarke] Archibald occurred in St. Martha's Hospital,
Antigonish on Tuesday, September 5 [1944] after a long illness.

The late Mr. Archibald was born at St. Mary's, Guysboro 81 years ago
and except for a few years spent in U.S.A. lived there all his life.
He was a carpenter by trade and also conducted a general store at Glenelg
for many years until loss of eyesight and ill-health forced him to retire.
His wife, the former Laura Eadie, Antigonish,
predeceased him five years ago.

He is survived by two sons and three daughters,
Sterling of Goldenville, Harry in Vancouver, B.C.,
(Pearl) Mrs. James E. Dean, Dartmouth; (Violet) Mrs. Fred Reed,
Roslindale, Mass., also ten grandchildren.

The funeral which was largely attended was held in Glenelg United Church
on Friday. Rev. Donal Archibald officiating
in the absence of the regular minister. The burial at Newtown cemetery
was conducted by the Oddfellows of East River
lodge of which organization he was a member.
