Mrs. George MacIntosh
On Saturday, December 24th, at 3 p.m.
the death occurred at Smithfield, Guys. Co.
of Mrs. Geo. McIntosh in the 94th year of her age.
Mrs. MacIntosh was the daughter of the late
Daniel Hattie and was born at Newton, Guys. Co.
When Mrs. MacIntosh was only a child of eight years,
the Hattie family moved to Caledonia. Some sixty-five years ago
she married Geo. MacIntosh of Smithfield, who predeceased her eight years ago.
Mr. MacIntosh was for years an honored elder
in Glenelg Presbyterian Church, so that for many years
this worthy couple filled a large place in the religious and
social life of the community. Their home was always
noted for its kindness and hospitality, a home the minister loved to visit.
Mrs. MacIntosh was a woman of fine Christian spirit
and in her prime very capable and possessed
an exceptionally keen intellect. She held a large place
in public and had a wide circle of friends
who will learn of her passing with deep regret.
She is survived by three sons and two daughters,
George Brown, with whom she lived on the old homestead,
John residing at Lynn, Mass., and Will C., in Denver, Colorado.
Mrs. George (nee Janie) and Mrs. Love (nee Kate)
both in Lowell, Mass., also three brothers and two sisters.
The funeral was held on Tuesday afternoon and was largely attended.
Services conducted by Rev. J.C. MacDonald.
The favorite hymns of the deceased were sung.
The 23rd psalm, “Over There” and “When the mists have cleared away.”
Interment at Evergreen Cemetery, Aspen.
