OBITUARY:
JARVIS, George Verdon:
July 9, 1996, Halifax Herald:

George Verdon Jarvis: 80, 3 Phillip St., Truro,
formerly of Pictou, died July 7, 1996,
in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro.
Born in Canso, he was a son of the late
George and Laura (Barrington) Jarvis.

He worked for seven years in the merchant marine
and 42 years at the Pictou Shipyards.
He was an avid fisherman, hunter and bowler.
Painting pictures was a huge part of his life
and many family and friends have his beautiful paintings.
He was a member of St. David’s United Church,
Bible Hill, and a former member and elder
of Pictou United Church.

Surviving are daughters, Elizabeth (Liz) Dyke, Truro;
Shirley (Mrs. Tom MacCarthy), Three Brooks, Pictou Co.;
son, Allan, Earltown; seven grandchildren; a great-grandchild;
sisters, Rhoda Talbot, Georgina MacKenzie; Canso;
Doris Ethier, Sudbury, Ont.; brother, Norman Jarvis, Vermont.
He was predeceased by his first wife,
the former Florence Beatrice Frizzell;
sisters, Elsie Gratto; brothers, Percy, Harvey.

Visitation 2-4, 7-9 pm today, funeral 2 pm Wednesday,
both in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou, Rev. Murray Favier officiating.
Burial in Haliburton Cemetery. Donation to
Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or Canadian Cancer Society.
