Born in Isaac's Harbour 79 years ago,
the late Mr. Davidson was the son of John Davidson and Margaret Langley,
and spent his early boyhood days there.
At the age of 19 he decided to go to sea,
and, on returning later went to work in the gold mines.
He was employed at the North Star, Harrigan Point No. 9.
He was also a faithful employee of Acadia coal Company for a number of years,
later going to Ontario where for fifteen years
he labored in the Hollinger Gold Mines when he was compelled to retire
on account of ill health.
The deceased was twice married, his first wife, Sophia Worth,
Country Harnour, having predeceased him forty-six years ago.
One daughter, Mrs. J.W.Taylor, Plymouth,
who survives him by this union is left to mourn the loss
of a loving and devoted father.
His second wife, former Annie Edwards of Londonderry, N.S.
also survives, as well as a daughter, Mrs. E.G. MacLean, and a son,
George Jr., of Timmons, Ont.
Fourteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive.
The funeral was held on Monday from the home of his daughter
and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. E.G. MacLean, and was largely attended.
The pall bearers were James E. and Brenton Taylor,
grandsons of the deceased, J.W.Taylor, Enoch G. MacLean,
George Fisher and Walter MacKeen.
Rev. Mr. Humphrey, pastor of St. Mary's,
officiated at both house and grave.
After the service at the home
the funeral cortege slowly wended its way to Goldboro
where the remains were laid to rest in the family plot,
beside his late mother, there's to remain
"until the day breaks and the shadows flee away."
