CAMERON, Robert Ernest (88),
Lower Sackville & formerly of Cross Roads Country Harbour, Guysborough County,
passed away February 13, 2009 in the QE11 Health Science Centre Halifax.
Born in Goshen, Guys. Co. on June 16, 1920,
he was a son of the late Ernest Arthur & Mable Melinda(Croft) Cameron.
He was a veteran of WW11, having served with the the 21st Artilery
of the Canadian Army and served in various postings across Canada.
He lived in Cross Roads Country Harbour all of his married life
except for the last 2 1/2 years which he spent in Lower Sackville with his daughter Margaret.
He married Elva Juanita Mason on August 10, 1940
& after his discharge from the Army, he worked in the lumbering industry in Nova Scotia until 1956.
He was a member of Zion United Church, Country Harbour.
He enjoyed sport fishing, mowing his lawn and looking after his property.
He is survived by two sons; Ernest Aolman (Carolyn) Cameron
and Willard Robert (Marilyn) Cameron,
Cross Roads Country Harbour; two daughters; Lorraine Jeanette (David) Gates, River Bourgeois;
Margaret Rose (Stephen) Guimond, Lower Sackville.
Sister; Alice Arlene MacCulloch, Goshen; sister-in-law, Isabel Cameron, Goshen;
Seven grandchildren: Keith (Frances) Cameron, Truro; Danny Cameron, Antigonish; Willard Cameron,
Cross Roads Country Harbour; Bonny (Wayne) Cameron, Dartmouth; Doleena Kaiser, Indian Hbr. Lake;
Robert Gates and Candace Castle both of Oyen, Alberta.
Four great-grandchildren, Devon Kaiser, Rielly, River-Dawn & Raynes Castle
who were his pride and joy. Also several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Elva Junita Mason (1995);
brothers; Charles Edward (1979), Donald Alexander in infancy (1922),
Wallace Lebert (2001). Sister Bertha Alma Sinclair (1988).
Visitation will be held Monday from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm in G.W. Giffin Funeral Home,
17545 Highway 316, Country Harbour. Funeral service be held on Tuesday at 2:00 pm
in Zion United Church with Keith Selwyn-Smith, DLM officiating.
Burial in Hillside Cemetery, Country Harbour.
Memorial donations may be made to Zion United Church or Hillside Cemetery.
