Retired Mining Engineer Dies

SHERBROOKE - Funeral service was held at St. James Presbyterian Church here for
Robert Verner Neily, 82, who died in St. Mary's Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.
Born in South Brookfield, Queen's County,
he was the son of the late Samuel and Annette Minard Neily.
A graduate of McGill University, he was a mining engineer.
He had supervised mining operations in the U.S., Mexico, British Columbia, Ontario and Nova Scotia.
He became a member of the Queens Lodge AF and AM in 1919 and took a keen interest in Masonic affairs.
He was a Past Master of Queens Lodge and Past District Grand Lodge Chaplain.
He was also a member of Royal Arch Masons and
a member of the Order of the Eastern Star,< in Ontario and Nova Scotia.
He was an elder in St. James Presbyterian Church and superintendent of the Sunday School.
Mr. Neily and his wife, the former Hattie Louise MacIntosh who died in 1960,
spent most of their married life in British Columbia and Ontario and moved to Sherbrooke upon retirement over 10 years ago.
