Vance Macdonald former alderman dies

MACDONALD, Vance L. - 63, 49 Cameron Rd., Sherbrooke, Guysborough County,
formerly of Halifax, died October 25, 1994, in St. Mary's Memorial Hospital, Sherbrooke.
Born in Antigonish,
he was a son of Irvis (Pryde)(Macdonald) Jollotta and the late Lester Vincent Macdonald.
He was a resident of Sherbrooke the past year having previously resided in Halifax for some 40 years.
During his working years, he was employed with Imperial Oil for 36 years in Halifax and Toronto.
He served many years on the executive of Halifax and Bedford Basin Progressive Conservative associations.
He served on the Halifax library board; Police Commission of Nova Scotia; several boards and commissions with the City of Halifax.
He was a lifelong member of the United Church of Canada, serving as an elder in Spryfield, Fairview and West Hill, Ont.
After his retirement, he served as alderman for the City of Halifax from 1991 to 1993.
He is survived by his wife, the former Mary Jane Cameron;
daughter, Rebecca (Becky) Halifax;
son David, Dartmouth;two grandchildren;
sister, Romayne (Mrs. John Ross) Scarborough, Ont.;
several nieces and nepheews.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Glen Gary, Wayne Keith.
Cremation has taken place.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday in Fairview United Church, Halifax,
Rev. Norman Marple officiating.
Burial will be 4:30 p.m. Friday in Riverside Cemetery, Sherbrooke.
Donations may be made to St. Mary's Memorial Hospital, Sherbrooke or Palliative Care Unit of Camp Hill Medical Centre, Halifax.
Arrangements are under the direction of H.W. Angus Funeral Home, Stillwater.
