MACKEEN, Joseph William - Halifax, died January 8, 1996, in the Halifax Infirmary.
Born in Stillwater, Guysborough County,
he was a son of the late John C. and Caroline (Taylor) MacKeen.
He was active in music in Guysborough and Antigonish Counties.
He moved to Halifax in the 1940s, working for the motor vehicle branch and as a gasoline inspector for the provincial government.
On retirement, he worked with the Nova Scotia Tax Commission.
He was a member of Fairview United Church,
where he was organist for several years and a choir member.
Surviving are his wife, the former Emma MacDonald;
son, Brian Joseph, at home;
sister, Margaret Ellison, Massachusetts;
two grandchildren;
numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by sister, Gladys Yorston; brothers, Lester, Claude, Laurie.
Cremation has taken place. Funeral in Fairview United Church,
Rev. Kevin Little officiating.
Burial in Riverside Cemetery, Sherbrooke.
