James W. McDonald

AMHERST - James W. McDonald, 86, 3 Rupert Street, Amherst,
died Monday in Highland View Regional Hospital.
Born in Sherbrooke,
he was a son of the late James and Margaret (Hattie) McDonald.
He was a retired member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police,
having served his career in Nova Scotia.
He retired in 1948.
From 1952 to 1963, he worked for the department of highways.
He was a member of Trinity St. Stephen United Church
and a former member and past treasurer of the board of stewarts.
He was a member of the Masonic Order, Queens Lodge, No. 34, Sherbrooke,
and received his 50-year membership jewel this year.
He was a veteran of the First World War.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
He is survived by his wife, the former Ella L. Austin.
He was predeceased by his sister, Florence M. McDonald.
The body is in H.W. Angus Funeral Home, Stillwater.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday in St. John's United Church, Sherbrooke,
Rev. Keith Lewis officiating,
with burial in Riverside Cemetery, Sherbrooke.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to any charity.
