Final Tribute Paid to Lake Alfred Scott

SHERBROOKE - Alfred G. (Fred) Scott died on Oct. --- at St. Mary's Memorial Hospital
following several months of ill health.
He was in his 65th year.
Except for a number of years spent in the United States, he lived in Sherbrooke, the village of his birth.
He was the eldest son of the late Robert J. Scott and Carrie MacDaniel Scott.
Mr. Scott was a carpenter and carried on the trade until he was forced to retire a year ago due to poor health.
He was a member of Queen's Masonic Lodge and was a past Master.
He took a keen interest in everything that was good for the community and country.
He is survived by his wife, the former Frances Wheaton;
four sons, Robert and Maurice, both of Galt, Ont.;
Melvin of New Glasgow and Herbert, at home;
a brother Harold in Sherbrooke;
four sisters, Elva (Mrs. John O'Neil) Mrs. Irene Filian, Mrs. Myre Bews, all of Sherbrooke;
Hilda (Mrs. Robert Turner) of Cole Harbor, Halifax Co.;
and nine grandchildren.
A brother Maurice predeceased him a year ago.
The funeral service was held from St. John's United Church, conducted by his pastor, Rev. Robert Stevens, assisted by Frank Canning of the Presbyterian Church.
Favorite hymns of the deceased were sung by the combined choirs.
Pallbearers were N. Robert Anderson, Scott Fraser, Arch Hingley, Frank Jordon, Lester MacKeen and Edward Hartling. Interment was at Riverside Cemetery.
