Seal Harbour – Harry Dresser Manthorne, 80,
of this Guysborough County community,
died Monday at home.
Born in Seal Harbour, he was a son of the late
George and Lenora (Uloth) Manthorne.
He worked for more than 30 years as a commercial traveller before retiring.
He was a member of Seal Harbour United Baptist Church,
a member and past master of Stormont Lodge 96, AF and AM,
past worthy patron of pioneer chapter 11, OES,
a member of Sunset Rest Senior Citizens Club
and was active in community affairs.
He is survived by his wife, the former Eva Mason,
a son, Glen, Amhest; a daughter, Myrna (Mrs. George Arnold), Westville;
two sisters, Mae (Mrs. Stanley Forbes), Bridgewater;
Inez (Mrs. Albert Balme), Florida;
a brother, Bernard, Seal Harbour; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Lester, Colborne and Wilson;
a sister, Anne Crooks.
His remains are resting in the family residence,
Seal Harbour, with visiting after 2 p.m. today.
The funeral will be 3:30 p.m. Thursday
in Seal Harbour United Baptist Church,
with interment in Seaside Cemetary.
