Mary Caroline MacKeen

Sherbrooke, June 14
beloved wife of John Mac Keen of Stillwater Guys. Co.,
Passed away at the Halifax Infirmary on June 7.
Before her marriage 57 years ago, she was the daughter of
the late Emery Taylor and his late wife, Margaret Archibald.
She was born at Glenelg, Guys. Co., 82 years ago.
During all of her married life she resided in Stillwater.
A woman loved by all who knew her,
she will be greatly missed by her many many friends and acquaintances.
Her home was always a welcome place to friend or stranger.
Her funeral was largely attended and testified to the
esteem in which she was held.
Following a short service at the home of her son,
Lester, her remains were taken to Campbell Memorial Church
at Stillwater where a service was held,
conducted by Rev. P.B. Chisholm.
Favorite hymns of the deceased were sung by the choirs
from the Presbyterian and United Church.
Hymns sung were;
Abide With Me and The Lord's My Shepherd.
A duet, Does Jesus Care,
was very beautifully rendered by
Mrs. Lester MacDonald and Mrs. Russell Cameron.
The pallbearers were relatives and neighbors;
J.E. Fraser, Walter Fraser, Merrit Archibald,
Arthur Archibald, Fisher Archibald and Elwyn Archibald.
Left to mourn the loss of a loving wife
are her husband, four sons ,
one daughter, also a brother and a sister.
The sons are Lester of Sherbrooke; Joseph, Fairview;
Claude and Laurie, residing in Boston, Mass.;
The daughter (Margaret) Mrs. Carl Ellison
resides at Milton, Mass.
The brother is Charles Taylor, Albro Lake,
Halifax Co.; Mrs. Laura Shaw residing in Maine is the deceased's
only living sister.
The floral offerings were many and beautiful,
bearing silent testimony of the high regard
in which the deceased was held
by her relatives and friends.
Mrs. MacKeen was predeceased by a daughter
(Gladys) Mrs. Fred Yorston, Montreal,
also by an infant daughter many years ago.
Internment was in Evergreen Cemetery at Waternish.
