BANKS, Stella W. – 78, Giants Lake, Guysborough Co., died June 14, 1998 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in Canso, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Winnifred (Rossong) Delorey. She was a musician, having played the Hawaiian steel guitar. She was a member of musical bands that played for dances in communities throughout Nova Scotia. Surviving are daughters, Anne Wheeler, Cape Sable Island; Mary Mahoney, Addington Forks; Rita Houghton, Lower Sackville; sons, Bernie, St. Joseph, Anticonish Co; Fred, Leo, Peter, Gerard, Andre, Anthony, all of Alberta; sisters, Margaret Jolotta, Giants Lake; Alice Boucher, Little Dover; brothers Hector, Dartmouth; Kenny, Nashville, Tenn.; Edward, British Columbia; 27 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Fred; son Joseph; brothers Earl, Alfred, Jimmy, Hughie, Bernie, Reginald. Funeral was Wednesday in St. Francis DeSales Church, Giants Lake, Rev. Daniel Boudreau officiated. Burial in the parish cemetery. Family flowers only please. Donations to Canadian Cancer Society, Antigonish branch.
