Hatcher, James – 98- L.R. MacKaracher Nursing Home, Sherbrooke, formerly of Liscomb, Guysborough County, died June 11, 1994 in the home. Born in Rose Blanche, Nfld., he was the last surviving member of his immediate family. After serving during the First World War, he was employed by Imperial Oil as a merchant seaman for many years. He also owned and operated a general store in Neil’s Harbour, Cape Breton, and later in Liscomb until his retirement. He donated the Hatcher Memorial Bus to the L.R. MacKaracher Nursing Home after becoming a resident there. He is survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Minnie MacKinley. Funeral was held in St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church, Sherbrooke, Rev. James Oliver officiating. Burial was in St. Paul’s cemetery, Stillwater.
