James Croft dies at 101
CROFT, James David – 101, Liscomb, Guysborough County, died Thursday in St. Mary’s Memorial Hospital, Sherbrooke. Born in Gegoggin, he was a son of the late John and Margaret (Baker) Croft. His family moved to Liscomb when he was young and as a young man he went to sea in sailing vessels. He was a lobster fisherman and carpenter for many years and was a member of St. Luke’s Anglican Church. He is survived by two daughters, Hazel (Mrs. Stanley Mason), Antigonish; Edith (Mrs. George Cameron), East River St. Mary’s; two sons, Palmer, Lloyd, both of Liscomb; two brothers, Nathan, Liscomb; Henry, Sheet Harbour; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, the former Ethel Rudolph; his second wife, the former Delila (Lilly) Hartling; a daughter and son, both in infancy; two brothers, John, Roy; two sisters, Alice, Maude. The body is in St. Luke’s Church, Liscomb where funeral will be 2 p.m. today, Rev. Greg McMullin officiating. Burial will be in St. Luke’s Cemetery. Family flowers only.
