Liscombe – Lyman Hubley, 85, of Liscombe, Guysborough county, died Monday, Jan. 25 at home. Born in Indian Harbour, Halifax County, he was a son of the late William John and Selena (Jollimore) Hubley. He was a fisherman for most of his life. He was secretary-treasurer of the Credit Union, Liscombe Branch, for many years; postmaster of Spanish Ship Bay post office for 24 years; councillor for Liscombe area in the Municipality of St. Mary’s for many years; lifelong member of St. Luke’s Anglican Church, Liscombe; member of Queen’s Masonic Lodge 34, Sherbrooke and Eastern Shore Sunshine Club, Ecum Secum. He is survived by three sons, Noble, Gordon, both of Liscombe; Glen, Eastern Passage; a daughter, Lottie (Mrs. Douglas Harpell), Dartmouth; 15 grandchildren; two sisters, Pearl Isnor, Indian Harbour; Lila Tredwell, Halifax; a brother, Lloyd, Dartmouth. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Ida Hartling; three sisters, Lottie, Sadie, Stella; three brothers, Stanley, Maurice, Granville. His remains are resting in St. Luke’s Anglican Church, with visiting from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today, where the funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday. Interment will follow in St. Luke’s Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to St. Luke’s Anglican Church.
