HENDSBEE, Effie Viola ~ 72, Half Island Cove, died September 9, 1998, in St. Martha's Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Born in Half Island Cove, she was a daughter of the late Daniel and Emily (Hendsbee) Hendsbee. She was a member of Half Island Cove Baptist Church. Surviving are daughters, Viola (Mrs. Gordon George), Manchester; Christena (Mrs. Steve Parker), Canso; Hattie, Half Island Cove; son, John Lyons, New Glasgow; David Anderson, Acton, Ont; sisters, Rettie Newman, Halifax; Hattie MacDonald, Sydney; Hilda Rhynold, Flossie Rhynold, Whitehead; Mary Greencorn, Half Way Cove; Helen Cameron, Sunny Brae; brothers, Silas, Carlisle, Ont; Horace Anderson, Acton, Ont.; 21 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild. She was predeceased by her sons, Arthur (Tommy), David, Maxwell, two in infancy; sisters, Shirley, Mildred, Muriel; brother, Winston; grandson, Harold. Funeral was Sunday in Half Island Cove Baptist Church, Rev. Chuck Moseley officiated. Burial in Bayview Cemetery, Half Island Cove. Arrangements entrusted to Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Canso.
