LANGWITH, Ethel May - 88, Shiretown Nursing Home, formerly of Second Street, Pictou, died November 9, 1998, in Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born May 1, 1910, in Guysborough, she was a daughter of the late Havelock and Maria Letitia (DeBarres) Torrey. She was a graduate of Guysborough Academy, Miss Murphy's Business College and attended Dalhousie University. Ethel was active in church affairs in parishes where her husband was rector, serving as Sunday school teacher, choir member, JA and GA leader. She was also honourary president and life member of St. James ACW, Winchester Unit, Pictou, and a life member of Canadian Bible Society. She is survived by daughter, Torrey (Mrs. Harold Murphy), Caribou River, Pictou Co.; grandsons, James (Carmel), Arishat; Donald (Jennifer), Dalhousie, N.B.; Robert, Repulse Bay, N.W.T.; great-grandchildren, Matthew, Christina, D.J., Jeremy and Brady. She was predeceased by her husband, Rev. Harry E. Langwith, and sister, Elizabeth L. Torrey. Visitation will be 3:30-5, 7-9 p.m. Thursday in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral 11 a.m. Friday in St. James Anglican Church, Pictou, Rev. James McCorriston officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Guysborough. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the memorial funds of St. James Anglican Church, Pictou; St. Paul's Anglican Church, Port Morien, Cape Breton Co., or a charity of your choice.
