McGrath, Mary “Lois”
- Aspen, Guysborough County, died peacefully on Monday January 24, 2000, in St. Mary’s Memorial Hospital, Sherbrooke. Born in Thorburn, she was a daughter of the late Arnold and Jean (McInnis) Jordan. She had been a resident of Aspen for most of her life. She was an adherent of the Kirk Memorial United Church, a member of the Rebecca Lodge 110, East River St. Mary’s, the Women’s Institute and the U.C.W. She had worked in the Aspen Post Office for 27 years and then became Post Mistress and continued to work for 14 years up until her retirement. Surviving are daughters, Mary (Mrs. Russell Haggart), Ontario; Jean (Mrs. John Simms), Sherbrooke; Margaret MacGrath, Glenelg; Erma (Mrs. Donald Bowles), Springfield Antigonish Co.; Agnes (Mrs. John Archibald), Newtown; Minnie (Mrs. Russell MacLaughlin), Glenelg; sons,Ellis (Jo-Ann), Aspen; Charles, Ontario; Robert and Chester, both of Aspen; Lloyd (Cindy), Melrose; James, Ontario; half - brothers, Milton Jordan, Liscomb; Claire Jordan, Lloyd Jordan, Francis Jordan, all of Ontario; half-sister, Louise, Ontario; 25 grandchildren; 5 great - grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Fraser; son, John; brother; Carl; sister, Erma Jordan; step - mother, Mildred; half - brother, Gordie and daughters - in -law, Weenie and Marita. Her remains will rest at the Kirk Memorial United Church, Aspen, with visitation Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., from where funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Rev. James Forbes officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Aspen. Donations in her memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice. Arrangements under the direction of H.W. Angus Funeral Home, Stillwater.
