Strople, William Owen “Bill” - 55,
Goldenville Guysborough County,
died suddenly in St. Martha’s Hospital, Antigonish, on May 1, 2000. Born in Sydney, he was a son of the late William A. and Irene (Riley) Strople. He was retired from Nova Scotia Power Commission after 29 years. He worked as a councilor at Recovery House, Antigonish. He was a past president of the St. Mary’s River Association and currently a director. He held various positions in the Aspen A.A. Group, Glenelg for 10 and a half years. He was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman and was a professional Fly Tier. He was a dedicated volunteer. He was a member of the St. Mary’s Crime Prevention Association. He is survived by his wife, the former Ruth Leslie, of 28 years; step - daughter, Cathy (Frankie) Lowe, Dartmouth. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. today, in Ecum Secum Funeral Home, Sherbrooke. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the St. James Presbyterian Church, Sherbrooke, Rev. Larry Welch officiating. Burial to follow in Riverside Cemetery, Sherbrooke. Memorial donations may be made to Recovery House, Antigonish. Bill will be sadly missed by his close friends. Arrangements entrusted to Ecum Secum Funeral Homes.
